Interesting Geology Features in the Field

                                                                Sandstone Dike
Picture shows a sandstone dike penetrating interbeded sandstone and mudstone at the Coalmine road cut of Tununk Shale close to San Rafeal Swell. In terms of sequence of events, the interbeded marine sandstone and mudstone were deposited, and then fracture was triggered by possible mechnism of earthquake, and them sandstone was poured into the fracture and at last the sandstone dike was deformed due to compaction.
